Written Request

Do you remember the scene from the movie "White Chicks" in which one of the main characters was about to write a letter to the police officer's supervisor? I remember laughing so hard when I saw it because they were trying to convince her not to write the letter. They knew that if she wrote a request or complaint, it would be immediately answered. As I think about this scene from the movie, I am reminded of how powerful our writing can be and the fact that we must use it before and after we publish our books. One important step that should be done is to research various podcast shows that you can be interviewed on about your book during the show. One research tool that I use to find relevant podcasts that I can be a guest on their show is the RadioGuestList.com. It is free; however, they do offer other services for a fee. I strongly encourage you to read the description of what they are looking for and structure your emails to fit their need. Listed below is a sample email that I wrote to be a guest on a podcast that I was interviewed on in the past. Sample Podcast Request Email: The following email was sent to "Warrior Women with a Purpose Podcast" and accepted: "Hi Kole Whitty, I hope all is well with you. The purpose of this email is to request an interview on your Warrior Women with a Purpose show. Considered an AIDS orphan by society, I have faced a plethora of challenges (from depression to financial struggles) but by the grace of God, I have overcome them all. In my book titled "Gate to Life: You Choose the Life that You Shall Experience," I describe these challenges while simultaneously empowering youth and others to overcome the barriers they face in life and possess their dreams. I have attached additional information below about me for your review. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Have an amazing day!"

I hope the above example helps you acquire more podcast interviews so that more people know that your book exists and purchase as a result of your enhanced book promotion efforts. If this was helpful to you, please place a comment below and tell me about your experience from using the above research and emailing podcast hosts. It's time to write your written request. Someone is waiting to hear about your current or upcoming book. Let's go!
