Nautica's bright green eyes saw straight through me and left an impression on my heart that compelled me to give him a taste of the food that I was eating.

You may be wondering: Who is Nautica? Nautica was the name that I gave to a black, green eyed stray cat that I rescued during one cold winter day when I was a child. After I brought him in my home, I noticed that someone placed a rubber band around his tail and tortured him. His tail was severely damaged. I removed the rubber band, cleaned his tail every day and put Vaseline on it until it healed. Everyday, I fed him his cat food and then I would prepare my breakfast.

I quickly noticed that every time I would get something to eat, Nautica would walk over towards me and patiently sit in hopes that I would drop a piece from my meal just for him to eat. Eventually, I dropped food in his bowl and Nautica enjoyed every bit of it.

Have you ever experienced the fierce stare and silently rushing posture of an animal that desired to receive what only you could provide? Just like you would remain focused while displaying your food in the view of your pet, make sure that you are remaining focused on the mission to complete your book, while sharing your process with those who follow you on social media and your email list.

It's ok to drop small delicious "morsels of food" i.e. brief snippets from your book along your creative journey enticing those who are following you to desire to acquire your book immediately upon release. The more strategic you are with the "morsels" i.e. information that you drop, the higher the likelihood of increased sales. Remember, everybody likes delicious treats, the smaller and more tasty the treat, the more increase the desire the person will have for more of it. Feed your readers desire and see massive results. Have you ever worked so hard to write your story that you gave up? Know that you are not alone. We all have given up at one point in time. Know that if you are still living and breathing, you have the ability to choose to return to the writing journey with one of your best friends: Your "Why".

Some of my reasons "why" are listed in the picture of my "Generations of Excellence" cellphone case. When I was designing this cellphone case, I thought about the fact that my mother (pictured at the top right corner surrounding two of my books), grandmother (pictured near the camera lenses surrounding two of my other books) and I (pictured at the bottom of the case in my cap and gown attending my college graduation ceremony with my dad, grandmother and uncle surrounding one of my books) all value higher education.

In fact my grandmother worked for U of M- Ann Arbor for 32 years. Before my mom died when I was seven years old, she was enrolled in college pursuing her Pre-Law degree. Talk about carrying on their legacy, I graduated as a First Generation College student from the very school that my grandmother served as a Survival Unit Certified Nurse Assistant.

The U.S. flag represents my relatives that have served and excelled in the Navy, Army and the Marines. Although my mom, grandmother and father are deceased, they are still are some of my reasons for pursuing my dreams and writing the stories that God places on my heart to write. They were some of my biggest supporters. They believed in me when I did not believe in myself. For example, my dad would tell people that I could do anything and he would send people to me for help with things that I had zero knowledge such as "how to replace an engine in a car, etc. This used to drive me nuts! Imagine a relative asking you to fix an engine on the car and then getting upset with you because you tell them that you can't do it and you give them a referral. My dad was literally telling people that because I had several college degrees, I could do anything and if I tell them I can't it's because they were rude to me so I refused to help them. My brother and I laugh about these stories today. My other reasons "why" are my God children, nieces, nephews and all the people who I believe need the content that will be written in every book that I produce.

Just like my "why" is important and fuels my actions; so is yours. Your "Why" is the reason why you wanted to write your story in the first place. Why did you want to write your story? Who will benefit from reading it and why? How much damage will be caused in the lives of these people if they never receive your story? Can you live with the fact that God gave you solutions to share with these people that you refused to share with them because you quit during your writing journey? Your story has the potential to generate multiple streams of income from one book. Who would this benefit in your life? Are they worthy of your sacrifice? If your answer is "yes", don't stop writing your story no matter how long it takes you to finish it. People are waiting on you to provide them with the resource that has been destined to come to them through you. Write out your "why" and post it where you can see it in the place where you normally write your story. Let's get this done! I believe in you. #royalclarityview #writeyourstory #rememberyourwhy #bookwriting #mindsetcoaching #indieauthors #healingjourney

Do you remember the scene from the movie "White Chicks" in which one of the main characters was about to write a letter to the police officer's supervisor? I remember laughing so hard when I saw it because they were trying to convince her not to write the letter. They knew that if she wrote a request or complaint, it would be immediately answered. As I think about this scene from the movie, I am reminded of how powerful our writing can be and the fact that we must use it before and after we publish our books. One important step that should be done is to research various podcast shows that you can be interviewed on about your book during the show. One research tool that I use to find relevant podcasts that I can be a guest on their show is the RadioGuestList.com. It is free; however, they do offer other services for a fee. I strongly encourage you to read the description of what they are looking for and structure your emails to fit their need. Listed below is a sample email that I wrote to be a guest on a podcast that I was interviewed on in the past. Sample Podcast Request Email: The following email was sent to "Warrior Women with a Purpose Podcast" and accepted: "Hi Kole Whitty, I hope all is well with you. The purpose of this email is to request an interview on your Warrior Women with a Purpose show. Considered an AIDS orphan by society, I have faced a plethora of challenges (from depression to financial struggles) but by the grace of God, I have overcome them all. In my book titled "Gate to Life: You Choose the Life that You Shall Experience," I describe these challenges while simultaneously empowering youth and others to overcome the barriers they face in life and possess their dreams. I have attached additional information below about me for your review. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Have an amazing day!"

I hope the above example helps you acquire more podcast interviews so that more people know that your book exists and purchase as a result of your enhanced book promotion efforts. If this was helpful to you, please place a comment below and tell me about your experience from using the above research and emailing podcast hosts. It's time to write your written request. Someone is waiting to hear about your current or upcoming book. Let's go!
